ART Milwaukee hosts the ART of Design at Flux Design on Friday, Feb. 3 from 8 p.m. to 12
a.m. Monthly,
ART Milwaukee organizes an ART Jamboree, which consists of interactive
traveling art galleries. ART Milwaukee partners with local businesses to
highlight the talents of local artists and the way they contribute to our
community through their work. The event encourages guests to socialize while
experiencing the galleries on display as well as the live demonstrations.
This
time around, ART Milwaukee heads to Riverwest. The Flux Design studio and warehouse
will showcase fifteen different galleries for guests to explore along with the
live demonstrations occurring simultaneously, which distinguishes an ART
Jamboree’s unique atmosphere from other art events in the city. Live music will
also include the acts of John Petty and River Water Tribe.
During
the event, guests can look forward to film clips starring Will Ferrell provided
by Old Milwaukee, as well as the live creation of rain barrels that resemble
Old Milwaukee beer cans. Guests will also be exposed to pottery sessions by
Ryan Peters, performances by members of the Milwaukee Ballet, live ice carving
by Scott Van Vreede, and live metal sculpture by Jesse Meyer. Galleries will
display the work of seven local visual artists. There will also be a complimentary
living photo booth complete with design themed props for guests to enjoy.
“Design is one of the most vast and comprehensive mediums of
art,” explains Jeremy Fojut, president of ART Milwaukee. “ART Milwaukee intends
to expose this reality through a highly interactive experience at Flux Design,
one of the leaders in Milwaukee’s design movement. We invite guests to view
traditional galleries, as well as live metal and wood working and ice
sculpture.”
Other
event partner organizations and sponsors include: PrideFest, the Gay Performing
Arts Center, the Milwaukee Odyssey, Milwaukee Artist Resource Network,
Milwaukee Makers Space, ART House Reveal, the Coalition of Photographic Arts,
Fine Line Magazine and Danceworks.
